For more than 50 years this zoo has been a special Tyrolean landmark which also provides impeccable views of Innsbruck. More than 100 Alpine animals can be seen here. At the Bergisel - the original location of the battles during the Tyrolean struggle for freedom – the Tirol Panorama can be found. The museum is fascinating both architecturally and culturally. Its core contains a giant round painting (more than 1000 square metres). A 360 degree view shows the historical drama going on at Bergisel during the battles.

The Olympic ski jumping hill at Bergisel is one of four stops during the Four Hills Tournament. 2002 the ski jump was renewed by star architect Zaha Hadid. Ever since then, it has become a centre of attraction both for athletes and tourists.

Alpinarium Galtür

Alpinarium Galtür

The design of the Alpinarium Galtür’s exterior is in keeping with the natural surroundings; at 345 metres in length and 19 metres high, its avalanche barrier wall is one of a kind in Europe. It was built after the avalanche disaster on 23rd February 1999. The combination of barrier and museum is unique and turns the Alpinarium into a very special information and exhibition centre.

Zammer Lochputz

Zammer Lochputz

The mystical Zammer Lochputz provides a natural spectacle save to watch for old and young thanks to the water-adventure-climb. Starting at Tyrol’s oldest hydroelectric power station, the paths lead through climbs and tunnels until visitors reach the Lötzer waterfalls, dropping 30 metres.

The Hofkirche, located at the edge of Innsbruck’s Old Town, was built between 1553 and 1563 as a mausoleum for Emperor Maximilian the first who died in 1519. Even though the coffin is empty, it still is the most important monument in Tyrol as well as the greatest emperors tomb in Europe.

Kufstein Fortress

Hard to miss is the fortress of Kufstein. It testifys to the districts capitals turbulent past as a place located right between Tyrol and Bavaria. Today, the fortress is a popular venue for theatrical plays and concerts. Every year, it hosts the operetta festival Kufstein.
